acne is no fun, that's what it is! it can make people obsessive, anxious, and want to hide from the world. but it's also an inherited disorder of the pores - while normal pores shed about one layer of dead skin cells per day inside the pore, the acne-prone pore sheds up to five layers of dead skin cells per day! this buildup forms congestion under the skin - the little bumps (closed comedones) and blackheads (open comedones), are considered noninflamed acne lesions. if bacteria is present (its favorite food to munch on is dead skin cells and oil), you will get inflamed pimples, pustules and/or cysts. some people have one or two types, while some suffer from all types at once!
